Our bodies and minds are so incredibly intelligent. Consciously we only access a small portion of this wisdom, but we are constantly getting clues. It’s as if someone forgot to give us the manual - How do we tap into that layer of the unknown?
In my own healing journey, the clues were in dreams that were trying to bring things to the surface.
They were in deep beliefs that felt like facts, which I had never questioned.
They were in repeated patterns that I kept replaying in life.
They were in physical ailments and digestive struggles which niggled to get my attention.
Only when I began to explore these signs, did I realise there were three distinct layers to healing.
1. Conscious Healing: Awareness and Understanding
The first layer is the conscious level — the part of healing that focuses on what we already know. In traditional talk therapy, much of the focus is on this conscious layer. It’s powerful because it helps us understand what’s happening within us. We revisit stories from our past and explore how they’ve shaped us. Simply expressing ourselves in a safe space can be deeply healing, especially since we often hold back in daily life for various reasons.
We also can’t forget that our brain loves to make sense of everything, so without this conscious layer, it’s sometimes hard for us to make sense of our healing journey.
2. Subconscious Healing: Unlocking Hidden Stories
The second layer takes us a little deeper — into the subconscious mind. This part of us absorbs everything, even what we don’t consciously notice. It holds our deeper beliefs, which influence our choices, actions, and ultimately how we perceive reality. Healing here means bringing hidden thoughts and feelings into awareness so we can acknowledge, process, and release it.
We can also reframe limiting subconscious beliefs to create empowering shifts in how we experience life. Tools such as hypnotherapy and inner work can be particularly powerful for this kind of work.
3. Energetic Healing: Restoring Balance and Flow
And finally, there’s the energetic layer — the secret sauce of healing. Our energy system holds so much information. Information from all our Soul experiences, whether this is current experiences, childhood, ancestral and even past lives.
Some of these energetic imprints support us, while others might have once been helpful but now keep us stuck. Energy healing helps clear what no longer needed, releasing blockages and strengthening our life force — that vibrant flow of energy that keeps us feeling alive and balanced. When our energy flows freely, everything — mind, body, and spirit — starts to feel lighter and more aligned.
